Our Longrow Red is a limited annual release bottled at cask strength. Each year a different type of red wine cask is used to mature the whisky, with the latest release spending seven years in Bourbon casks followed by four years in Tawny Port casks.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Notes of redcurrants, blackberries and red cola, along with a damp, musty element, provide an inviting introduction to this dram.

Palate: The sweet, fruity influence comes through in notes of red fruits, honey glaze and brandy baskets nicely balanced with smoky notes of barbecued meats.

Finish: The peat builds in the finish and a salty, nutty note develops. Notes of rhubarb custard and roasted almonds round off this dram.

"After the somewhat disappointing Longrow Red 15 Years Pinot Noir, this is a comforting return to form. It's jammy, but not too cloying. It's sweet but not too syrupy. And the Longrow characteristics aren't completely outshined by the cask. It can take this sort of abuse like a champ." - Thijs Klaverstijn, Words of Whisky (88 Points)

"This Longrow shares its Springbank namesake cousins’ calm and restraint. But overall it makes a more robust impression by comparison. The peat is surprisingly subdued, and yet quite nuanced, its darker notes dipping into the port and its dryer, lighter notes mixed up in the smoke, wood, and tannins. Also unlike the Springbanks, I feel more compelled to invest in my curiosity. I can tell when next I come across a Longrow I’ll stop to consider it—if someone else hasn’t made up their mind before I have the chance! Longrow gets less attention than the Springbank namesakes. But it’s also a culty fave." - Mark J, The Right Spirit (Worth Buying - Yes Indeed!)

"Damn, this is right up my alley. The perfect sweet peat for me, and definitely better than the Bowmore 18 Deep and Complex. I think I like this a little better than the 15-year Longrow. I’m deducting 1 point because the notes could be more layered, but this is exceptional whisky and I’d get backups if possible." - /r/Scotch (user: Sherry_Bombardier) 9/10 t8ke

"This is a must have if you are a Longrow Red fan, or like me, you just dig Scotch finished in Port barrels." - Randall H. Borkus, The Whiskey Reviewer (A-)
