Fèis Ìle Lagavulin 13 Year-Old is a glorious and unique bottling with a delightfully rewarding and unusual mix of richness, spice, and sweetness. This full bodied expression has fleeting sweet aromas of candied chestnuts somehow perfectly combined with oily mineral tones. The tones are intensified with a thick and oil-smooth texture. It is fleetingly sweet then piquant with spice that quickly rises in importance as rich waves of smoke, salt and hot pepper take over. Noticeably palate-drying, this superb Lagavulin has a long and intense finish with a pepper-spice warmth and delicious nutty and smoky aftertaste. Ideal to be savoured at natural strength or with a splash of water.

Tasting Notes:

AppearanceClear gold with amber lights. Fine beading and long, slow legs.

Body: Medium to full.

NoseMild overall, with some prickle. A fleeting sweet top note of candied chestnuts soon settles into more familiar suggestions of linament and an oily mineral note. This last takes hold, becoming a sweet pungency. Water brings it out as linseed oil with thick, fragrant smoke in the classic Lagavulin vein, edged here by dark hints of char.

Palate: At natural strength, the texture is thick and oil-smooth, while the taste is intense; it is fleetingly sweet then piquant with spice that quickly rises in importance, as rich waves of smoke, salt and hot pepper take over. Noticeably palate-drying. Superbly full on at natural strength. A dash of water smooths it out, in time emphasising the spicy dryness, which is still backed by a smoky intensity.

FinishLong, still intensely piquant and appreciably drying, with that pepper-spice warmth leaving a delicious nutty and smoky aftertaste. Similar and even longer with water, the smoke somehow growing with time.

" This Lagavulin 13 years old Feis Ile 2021 Edition is a stunner. The combination of the robust peat smoke and the sweetness from the American oak and Port casks is sublime. The result is balanced and delicious, so hats off to those that have created it. The layers of aroma and flavour within the whisky are also superb and give great complexity. We shall definitely be adding a bottle to our collection. If you are also interested, then do not hesitate as it will undoubtedly sell out soon." - Matt C, Whisky For Everyone
