Our first ever barrel pick is finally here. "Antique Cola" is an 8 year old single barrel from Buffalo Trace Distillery that is the first to launch in Australia with a custom gift tin just in time for the festive season.

Almost 12 months ago we were offered the opportunity to select our own barrel pick for the legendary Buffalo Trace thanks to our good friends at Southtrade International. 

We didn't think that there could be that much variation between the single barrels but boy-oh-boy were we wrong. The name 'Antique Cola' was chosen due to the immediate notes of muted vintage cola flavoured soda pops and classic American 'fizzy pop' flavours. It was immediately evident when tasting this bad boy that we were onto something special.

For the custom artwork, we had it professionally designed and wanted to portray the vintage notes of cola in a unique way that hadn't been done before. As an added bonus for the collectors, the gift tin is gorgeous and a must-have for any shelf. 

We couldn't be more happy with the final product and hope that you all enjoy it as much as we do. 

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Muted vintage cola flavoured soda pops with a slight touch of a cigar box, pink lady apples, lemon meringue topping, a hint of pimento berries, and burnt caramel cola nut.

Palate: More retro cola and charred white marshmallow sugars with an undercurrent of tropical pineapple gummy lollies and a hint of cherry with decadent chocolate and dried apricots.

Finish: Fizzy American grape soda with lingering notes of sweet oak and baking spices.
