Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch No.5 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700mL

The Balvenie Tun 1509 is limited edition series which features single malts selected and blended by malt master David Stewart. These whiskies are then allowed to mature further in the distillery's Warehouse 24 in a large vat dubbed Tun 1509.

This expression is the 5th in the limited edition Tun 1509 series from Balvenie, released in 2018. It consists of whisky selected by Malt Master David E. Stewart from 29 unique casks — 10 traditional American oak barrels, 8 sherry butt, 8 sherry hogshead, and 3 refill American oak hogsheads — that are married together into the Tun and left to marry for 3 months in Warehouse 24. It is bottled at 52.6% ABV and released in limited quantities.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Honey, oatmeal, orange, vanilla, some coconut, walnut, spicy tannins, herbs, leather, light raisins, peach/apricot jam, almonds.

Taste: Velvety start, the alcohol is well integrated, honey, apricot, vanilla, orange, almonds, oak.

Finish: Long and soft, dried apricots, marzipan, raisins, spicy wood at the back.
