A quarter of a century of patient maturation in predominantly sherry seasoned European oak casks on The Macallan Estate has resulted in The Macallan Sherry Oak 25 Years Old. This is a rare and distinguished single malt, with an intensely rich and complex flavour profile of raisin, crystallised ginger and rich oak.
Rich and complex, The Macallan Sherry Oak Collection is influenced by sherry seasoned European oak casks. Each single malt is characterised by natural mahogany hues and interlocking notes of succulent dried fruits and ginger, with a depth of flavour and wood spice that intensifies through the range.
The Macallan reimagined is seen through the lens of artistic translator, David Carson, and celebrates the journey of our sherry seasoned oak casks.
Hidden in the hill leading to the Sherry Oak 25 Years Old is the technical blueprint of The Macallan Distillery. The bottle, pristine like a hero, stands against an elegant and mysterious background, rich in all shades of red. The artwork shows the evolution from the hand-drawn pattern to the packaging design.
The brand logo is imprinted on a cloth, similar to the wood soaking up the sherry influence during the maturation process. The wavy texture of the fabric harkens back to the pattern.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Entirely natural colour.
Nose: Dried orange slices, raisins, sultanas and apricot with ginger syrup and oak.
Palate: Rich dried fruits, black cherries and chocolate with crystallised ginger and toasted almonds.
Finish: Long with dried fruits, dark chocolate and oak.
" Despite the age, the nose is quite fresh with just cut apples and oranges. Dark leather, maple syrup, and crushed nuts take over on the palate with wood spices and dried fruit following closely behind. The whisky stays with you for the long haul and is fairly chewy and raisined" - Stephanie Moreno, Distiller
